I think I have food issues. I seem to be really good at complaining about being overweight, and seeing photos of myself when I'm thinner make me wish I could be thinner but not actually feel like its possible.
I'm not sure what's going to spark this weight loss, but I'm going to have to really get over my food compulsion to make this work.

Thursday
A bit worried about my digestion and getting everything going again (to be as vague as possible), I indulged in my favourite laxative: coffee. I'm eating lots of veg, so not sure what's going on with my intestines. Its being a bastard.
Breakfast
Strong soya latte
500ml water to combat the caffeine dehydration factor
1 banana
handful grapes
1 apple
Lunch
Chicken breast
yogurt dressing
mixed green leaves
beets
pumpkin seeds
chocolate milk (oops- stomach didn't like it either!)
Snack
pain au chocolat (oops)
Dinner
1/2 chicken breast
roast carrots and squash and 3 bits of artichoke (in oil)(small portion)
2 cups air popped pocorn
2 tsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 litres of water
Not the best day, but on a brighter note I did turn down a second croissant and loads of junk food cravings before I came home. Good for me.

Wednesday. Hooray!
Breakfast (8:15am)
1 small glass grapefruit juice
1.5 cup of special K
1.3 cup of 2% milk
1 banana
Snack
Green tea
Apple
1 x ryvita
Lunch
Mexican salad (same as last night)
Snack
Weight Watchers yogurt
carrots, celery and red pepper
Dinner
2 dark chocolate biscuits
3 cups risotto (too much, but so hungry)
with 30g pancetta
shitake mushrooms
25g parmesan cheese (maybe what caused the bloating)
After dinner I felt very bloated and a bit ill. Not sure what caused this. Think I might need to take fiber supliment such as psyllium husk as bloating is becoming quite regular after meals.

New Outlook
So I tried Joshi. I just can't get my head around all the rules. I know there is a point and that it's probably fabulous to detox one's liver, but that is not my goal at the moment.
My goal is to break all my nasty habits that have resulted in me gaining about 20lbs in the past 2 years.
I think the breaking point for me was when Wii Fit told me I was overweight. It also reported that I have the "fit age" of 27, which is awesome, but still. Overweight is overweight and I need to address this. I just can't believe its taken a computer game to make me realise I have to make some changes.
It often starts with the downtrodden "why me's". There are tons of people in the world that eat was worse stuff and are skinny. Why is it that my metabolism can't keep up? The answer is; who cares. It isn't as quick and therefore I must eat fewer calories and less fat. I can whine and bitch forever about how life is unfair, but that isn't going to make me thinner. Oh no its not.
And yes, I do care about being thinner. I won't be a supermodel, ever. I'm not delusional, but I am overweight. The doctor said it and the wii said it.
So now I do a realistic, lower calorie, smaller portions attempt at losing those pesky pounds and being a fitter, healthier me.

Day Three
Wow.
Today was easy..until about 6pm. I was out on the town, and starting to get a bit dizzy from detox and hunger, and totally caved and ate prawn crackers. Here's the breakdown of today.
Breakfast:
Wheat-free, gluten-free porridge with bananas and honey. Fluffy and delicious!
Lunch:
Stir fried veggies. Boooring.
Snack:
The old faithful- yogurt and banana and honey. Yum.
Leftover rice and lentil pilaf.
Prawn crackers. I was starving. I felt a bit nauseous after eating them- but could have been a bi-product of being on a stuffy bus. Bad because, 1-seafood, 2-deep fried with who knows what. However, the only ingredients were egg and seafood. Not the WORSE choice I could have made.
Dinner:
Curried lentil soup. Oh LORD...this was SO delicious! Email me if you want the recipe.

Day Two
I'm Hungry.
This morning I woke up as usual. I've been hungry pretty much all day, despite my frequent snacking. Here's what I ate:
Breakfast:
Brown rice and yogurt with basil
2 cups of herbal tea
Snack:
banana
plain yogurt and honey
Lunch:
fried rice
beets
salad
Snack:
rice cakes with goats cheese
2 cups of herbal tea
Dinner
Monk fish (too salty!!)
Rice and lentil pilaf
purple broccoli
caper, lemon and basil dressing (yum)
I forgot to mention that i have roped Ben into doing this detox with me to see if it gets rid of his eczema. Mostly it helps to have him doing it with me because it sucks to eat all healthy while he would be eating bread and chocolate. MMM...chocolate. He's been complaining a bit about beer and bread, mostly, but I think he'll be fine.
I don't even think I'm hungry. I just miss snackin on junk.

Day One
Dr. Joshi- what if I like pistachios?
So today I woke up and before putting anything into my sugar-lovin gob, I decided I should really kick my caffeine, sugar, starchy, fries and chips habit. I love me some healthy eatin, but I also love rich, fat-laden sauces and naughty snacks. I'm also a serial over-indulger and really have a bottomless snacking pit of a stomach. Time to make some changes.
Breakfast:
Banana and a cup of rooibos tea while I read the detox guidelines.
Lunch:
Carrot, coriander and cumin salad:
Shread carrot, add a tsp of olive oil, cut up fresh coriander and season with cumin. Nice, light, delicious.
Snack:
roasted beets and steamed asparagus.
Some plain yogurt.
Pistachios- I knew I shouldn't but I did. I will not eat these again as they harbour mould in the digestive system and are fatty.
Dinner:
Smoked Salmon fried rice with broccoli and asparagus.
Yogurt with banana and honey for dessert!
